Reno Black Cemetery, Lamar County, TX
Reno Black Cemetery is in the northeast quadrant of the county. It is in Block 33 of the Lamar County Road Map produced by American Drafting and Services revised December 1993. It is within the city limits of Reno, behind Dale's Transmission. Much of it is swampy and under water in tall grass and reeds.
From the traffic signal on Hwy 82, the intersection of Hwy 82 and Airport Road (or FM 1508)., Dales Transmission is very near the northwest corner of this intersection. Park and walk northward around the building for 161 yards (measurement taken from the north edge of Hwy 82). The cemetery is at the north end of the block of trees and is located just to the west of the 2 large storage buildings now in place.
GPS coordinates are 33° 39' 52.9200'' N, 95° 27' 47.1600'' W. (33.66470 Latitude and -95.46310 Longitude.)
Little is known of this cemetery at this time. Only four graves were identified
by Butch and Betsy Mills and Carmen Burks in 1997. Marva Joe and a group cleaned
the cemetery and found more markers. Lawrence and Sue Dale resurveyed the cemetery
on 2 May 2014. The following persons are known to be buried here:
