Lee Cemetery, Chicota, Lamar County, TX

This single grave is located in the northwest quadrant of the county off Farm Market 197 between county roads 35780 and 35840 in Block 7 of the Lamar County Road Map produced by American Drafting and Services revised December 1993. The grave is that of Molly A. Lee. From the records of Elizabeth Booth: "Mollie Lee was about 12 or 14 years old, slightly retarded, no other known marker, across the road and over in a field from Friarson's store in Chicota. This was told to us by an old farm and dairy rancher at the store. He could be in error as to the age." Another note from Robert Chaney to Mrs. Booth supplied the full birth and death dates as born 9 Nov 1870 and died 15 Apr 1876.

From CHICOTA, TEXAS 1835-1985, by Roberta J. Woods and Ruth C. Renfro, Henry Publishing, Paris, 1986, p. 134: "Weldon Booth told of a small, lonely grave marker bearing the inscription [above] said to be located in a wooded area about 1 1/2 mile north of the lake [Pat Mayse Lake]. Robert Parsons says the child's father was Max Lee but this is only information obtained. Logic tells us that these two were part of the Lee Family of Rawhide."
