Killinsworth Cemetery, Lamar County, TX
Killingsworth Cemetery is located in the southwest quadrant of the county off Highway 38 near Roxton. It is on County Road 24800 in Block 45 of the Lamar County Road Map produced by American Drafting and Services revised December 1993. The 1989 General Highway Map of Lamar County, revised to May 1, 1992 incorrectly refers to this cemetery as Gough Cemetery.
To reach the cemetery, from 82 West, go south on FM 38. Turn right (west) onto CR 24800. Cemetery is about a mile down and on the left. There is a highway marker on FM 38.
GPS coordinates are 33° 34' 18.42" N, 95° 43' 38.78" W. (33.57178 Latitude and -95.72744 Longitude)
Ron Brothers revisited the site on March 19, 1994. The oldest inscribed grave in the cemetery is that of Wily Foreman Mayo who died in 1877. Fourteen graves were recorded by Elizabeth Booth on March 5, 1978. A marker sits at the entrance to the cemetery inscribed, "Killingsworth Cemetery, in memory of Elisha A. Killingsworth 1897-_____. Memory of the Rogers Family 1978." There are 25 known graves.
