Draper Cemetery, Lamar County, TX
Draper Cemetery is located on Camp Maxey in the northwest quadrant of the county in block 15 of the Lamar County Road Map produced by American Drafting and Services revised December 1993. Camp Maxey fenced the cemetery and has installed road markers to help locate this small cemetery, so entrance to the cemetery should be made through the front gate of Camp Maxey. Arrangements to enter to the camp will need to be made in person at the range support office located in the first building on the right after you enter the gate. You will be asked to sign in when you enter and sign out when you leave. There are signs that will direct you to the cemetery once inside the gate. However, the sign that directs you straight ahead where Casey Cemetery is to the right is hard to see because of the weeds. From that point, proceed .6 miles. You will see a gate blocking the road. A sign for Draper Cemetery directs you to the right (west) and this road is gravel.. Proceed 1.4 miles on this gravel road. There is a sign for the cemetery on this road and a small overgrown dirt road that turns left (south). Follow this dirt road for about .5 miles to the cemetery.
GPS coordinates are 33° 46' 51.8772 N, -95° 35' 52.1664 W. (33.7810768 Latitude and -95.5978238 Longitude)
Only two stones are there - a double marker for William M. (1854-1931) and Mary K. Jones Draper (1852-1927) and a single marker for Alven Draper, born 1 Dec 1908 and died 24 Jan 1911, inscribed "Son of T. A. and L. C. Draper." There is no evidence of other graves in the area.
